Manager Brendan Rodgers has praised the Reading supporters for their exceptional backing in Wednesday's evening's home game against Cardiff City.
The team gave absolutely everything on the pitch, and this was matched by our fans, who continually got behind the team with vocal support and willed us to score.
The manager said, "The supporters were terrific again, and I think they see what we're trying to do. They're sticking with us right until the end.
"I know many grounds where the crowd would turn on the team after ten minutes. But I think they know what we're trying to do, and we're very, very close to being very, very good. They're with us all the way. I have empathy for them and we are one club.
"Some of our quality was outstanding. I was very proud of the players. We created many chances and that's the way it's going at the moment. We have got to get that killer instinct and we need to find that.
"I thought we deserved three points but we didn't get it so congratulations to Cardiff, because for them to come here, and with us playing like we did, that's a mark of a good side.
"We dominated, and we showed the mark of our group to go again and get together after conceding the goal. That showed the mentality of the group because it's easy to fold then. We just couldn't get the goal.
"We went direct when we had to, and opened the pitch up when we had to. Cardiff's centre halves and goalkeeper were outstanding and that's a mark of the game.
"We need to be better in the box, no two ways about it. But we're creating opportunities, it's not as if we're getting nowhere near the goal. Some of our play is outstanding and it's just around the corner. We will get there. Maybe we need one off the backside to go in. You have to be clinical. We're strong defensively but we can't rely on that, we must score.
"We have a cause this year, which is to get into the top six. We feel we can do that, there are many games to go but you can see the quality, mentality and spirit are there. It's just margins but we're nearly there."
