Live updates
7pm - Reading's team is in and there are five changes as we go 4-4-2. At the back, Jay Tabb plays right back ahead of Shaun Cummings, while Darren O'Dea is left back ahead of the injured Ryan Bertrand.
Brynjar Gunnarsson comes into midfield ahead of Jem Karacan, while Shane Long and Simon Church play up front, Noel Hunt injured and Brian Howard on the bench.
7.36pm The two teams are out on a cool evening in West London. A mixture of black and green 'Kick It Out' t-shirts are being worn by both home and away players.
7.57pm - The teams are out and Reading are in orange and blue while QPR sport the blue and white hoops.
3 mins - Reading on the front foot in the early stages. Cerny struggles to punch a corner away but a foul on the keeper is awarded.
5 mins - Ingimarsson is harshly penalised for a tug of a shirt but Akos Buzsaky's free kick sails into Federici's arms without too much alarm.
7 mins - McAnuff finds Long on the overlap down the left and Long centres it low towards Church. Church tries to control the cross which is slightly behind him but he can't prevent Cenry coming to collect near the penalty spot.
9 mins - Routledge makes progress when he's allowed to turn 35 yards out. He loses his footing but Tabb's clearance falls to Taraabt's feet. He cuts inside and shoots but Federici saves high at his near post.
12 mins - Ingimarsson bursts forward and finds McAnuff, who gets it back from Long. By the left corner flag somehow he wriggles free and keeps the ball in play and then drives towards the near post from a very tight angle. It hits the side netting and it will be a goal kick.
14 mins - Kebe's surge forward sees him find McAnuff with a backheel. The winger skips over two challenges before earning a free kick. He takes it himself but it flies high over the bar.
27 mins - Long's sheer tenacity sees him repeatedly stab the ball away from QPR legs inside the box and loop it back to Cisse on the edge of the box. The midfielder volleys first time but it sails over the bar without troubling Cerny.
29 mins - Reading win a free kick on the right as the referee fails to play play on when Kebe was bursting onto the loose ball. The Royals take the set piece quickly into Kebe in an advanced position and he's in on goal here - but the linesman raises his flag. That looked close!
30 mins - RED CARD! Ben Watson takes a free kick quickly at the other end and the referee blows his whistle. He clearly stated that they had to wait for the whistle and he produces a second yellow for Watson who is sent off!
31 mins - GOAL! Still in shock, the QPR fans are cheering.
Buzsaky takes the free kick and Federici at full stretch to his right is beaten. A beautiful free kick, but whether it should have been a free kick in the first place is debatable.
34 mins - Tabb does brilliantly down the right and he cuts it back for Kebe inside the box. He opts to try to reach the byline instead of shooting but is outnumbered and can't get the cross in.
39 mins - This referee is producing yellow cards for nothing. Ingimarsson now in the book for a nothing challenge on Routledge.
39 mins - GOAL! Ten man QPR have another. They get it wide to Routledge on the right who crosses deep over Federici and
Simpson is arriving ahead of Tabb to sidefoot it home from a tight angle.
43 mins - McAnuff is clipped as he breaks into the box and Church stands over this free kick. He arcs a beatiful free kick around the wall and it strikes the right post and Reading are denied by the woodwork.
45(+3) mins - McAnuff twists and turns and shoots from the left side. It's sailing close to the top right corner but goes just over the bar.
HALF TIME - An almighty effort required from Reading in the second half if another defeat is to be avoided.
46 mins - Ivar Ingimarsson has been sent off and it's ten against ten. Within five seconds of the restart Ingimarsson went to ground and fouled Simpson, referee Hall brandishing the harsh second yellow card. Brendan Rodgers had just made two changes at half time, bringing on Brian Howard and Gylfi Sigurdsson for Kalifa Cisse and Jay Tabb, but now the gameplan is back to square one with that decision. The referee's influence on tonight's game cannot be understated.
50 mins - It looks as if Brynjar Gunnarsson has moved to centre half, with the Royals switching to three a 3-4-2 formation.
52 mins - First opening of the second half for the Royals. The ball bounced in-front of Gylfi Sigurdsson, though it wouldn't quite drop for the young midfielder and he saw his shot blocked from 12 yards.
54 mins - More promising stuff from us there. McAnuff whips in a teasing cross, which Shane Long heads narrowly over the bar. Good chance.
57 mins - Somehow it remains at 2-0. Wayne Routledge weaves his way into the left hand side of the area twice in succession, but both times substitute Rowan Vine fails to convert solid crosses.
59 mins - Well it's a thrilling game for the neutral if nothing else, end to end stuff. McAnuff and Sigurdsson both see efforts charged down in the box before, at the other end of the pitch, Rangers have a goal rightly disallowed for offside. Somewhere in the middle of all that Reading make their final sub, with Simon Church replaced by Hal Robson-Kanu.
61 mins - Kanu is playing up front with Shane Long, and immediately gets in on the action with some tenacious midfield work. Rangers, however, are looking resilient at the back. The attendance has been announced as 11,900 - exactly.
65 mins - Better stuff. Jimmy Kebe does well to drive into the box, though his neat reverse pass is hooked over the bar by Sigurdsson.
69 mins - Again Kanu tries to inject some life into proceedings, cutting in from the left before sending a swerving shot towards goal - Cerny holds well.
71 mins - GOAL. That looks to have cut short any hope of a come back. Vine finds space inside the area and slams a ball past Federici and into the net. It's an uphill task now for Reading.
72 mins - Jimmy Kebe still wants to get something out of this game. He beats his man for pace on the right wing, but sees his cross well cleared by the R's defence.
74 mins - Rangers push forward once more, but Gavin Mahon's long range effort is straight down the throat of Feds, who clutches the ball to his chest. Final sub for QPR, Taarabt is replaced by Patrick Agyemang.
75 mins - Agyemang is straight into the action, breezing down the left hand side and into the danger zone. He only has Federici to beat, but pokes a weak shot straight at the Aussie stopper.
79 mins - Lady luck has not been on our side this evening. Just as it looked to turn in our favour as the R's were reduced to 10 men, Akos Buzsaky's wonderful free-kick summed up the season so far. Ivar's dismissal confirmed it was just going to be one of those nights.
82 mins - GOAL. It's four. The Royals had to push men forward and they get caught out on the counter; substitute Patrick Agyemang breaks the offside trap and showcases some fancy footwork to step past Federici and slot home.
84 mins - Best move of the game from us there. Good one-two between Howard and Kanu, before the former Sheffield United man sees his dipping drive tipped over by Cerny. From the resulting corner Shane Long smashes a shot over the top.
85 mins - Credit the Royals here, they are not giving up. Sigurdsson's long range drive moves all over the place before Cerny somehow palms it away from danger.
87 mins - GOAL. We have a consolation. As previously mentioned the Reading players have not let their heads drop and Brian Howard pounces onto a loose ball in the six yard box before poking home.
90 mins - The fourth official has indicated that there will be a minimum of three minutes time added on. Jobi McAnuff rallies to win a corner, but his cross is easily cleared.
90 (+2) mins - Almost a second for the Royals there, but somehow the ball stays out after a shot pinballs around inside the six yard box. Lady Luck is still wearing her QPR jersey.
