O'Dea desperate to put it right

Posted on: Thu 22 Oct 2009
On loan Celtic man Darren O'Dea is determined to put things right on the pitch.

The Irish international was again left frustrated after a dramatic evening at Loftus Road, as the Royals came off on the wrong end of a game that boasted five goals and two red cards.

"There's not a player in the dressing room who's not trying, I can't put my finger on it just now, it's something that the players are desperate to put right," said the 22-year-old.

"You can talk all day, I'm sick of talking about it - it's about time someone does something about it. It's not for the want of trying, but you've got to have more than that. We need to look at ourselves in the mirror, get back here on Thursday and it's down to the 11 players on the pitch and the rest of the squad to do something about it."

Despite suffering a night in which lady luck seemed to desert his team, the Royals defender has refused to make any excuses for the result.

"There is only one group to look at and that's us, the players. There's no point making excuses, when things don't go to plan you need to come out fighting. At the moment we're rolling over to teams and it's just not acceptable.

"We were solid, then they got the sending off and scored - from then it was the same old story. We came out in the second half, set up in a different shape and then with Ivar getting sent off it stopped the momentum. But that's only a hundreth of the problem, we maybe needed something like that to kick us out of this little slump."
