Nigel Gibbs' reserve side ran out resounding winners over Swansea City on Tuesday afternoon, with an impressive 4-0 victory in South Wales.
Despite fielding a number of current youth team scholars the second string didn't look troubled by a lack of experience, as they dominated the first half to take a two goal lead into the break.
The opener came early on as Hal Robson-Kanu whipped in a wonderful free-kick from the right hand side, allowing Alex Pearce to drift in at the far post to convert.
The Royals vice captain also played a part in the second goal of the game just before half time, regaining possession with a solid tackle before bursting forward and allowing Mitchell Bryant to cross for Abdulai Bell-Baggie to tap home.
Despite a brief lull after the interval, as the home side threatened to get back into proceedings, Reading once more took control and earned themselves a third goal through more youthful tenacity.
Jacob Walcott charged down a clearance on the edge of the Swansea box, allowing Bell-Baggie to rifle home a cool finish for his second of the afternoon.
Walcott was rewarded for his hard work in the final seconds of stoppage time, as he broke the offside trap to latch onto Marek Matejovsky's intricate pass - clipping the ball past David Cornell to complete the rout.
The Royals next reserve fixture is at home to Swindon Town and has been switched to 2pm on Tuesday 27th October, at the Madejski Stadium. For a full fixture list click here.
