Howard praises team spirit

Posted on: Wed 28 Oct 2009

Brian Howard has praised his team mates for the passion they showed in an unfortunate defeat to Leicester on Monday evening, but admits that the Royals need to be more clinical if they are to pick up a victory.

The Sky Sports cameras were in town to broadcast an extraordinary game of football from Madejski Stadium, as Brendan Rodgers' men dominated proceedings from start to finish only to see Martyn Waghorn's header steal three points for the Foxes.

"We didn't have the best of luck but you can't keep blaming luck in this game, you've got to make your own. You have to get on the end of things in both boxes and once we do that, and get the rub of the green, then I'm sure things will be on the way up," said the former Sheffield United man.

"We've displayed a bit of heart and passion tonight and controlled the game - which showed we're more than capable of doing well in this league. I think we've got the fans back on our side a bit tonight by the way we've played."

Yet again there isn't long to wait for a chance at redemption, as a trip to Coventry City beckons this Saturday. Howard insists that belief in the camp is still high ahead of the clash.

"I don't see why we can't go there and win, there's not one game that's an three easy points in this league but this is a game that we can win. We have to make sure we go there, don't disappoint and make sure that no matter what we come back with three points.

"We've got a good team spirit, there were a few words said after the QPR game but now we just want the best out of everyone."
