Royals boss
Brendan Rodgers was absolutely delighted with his team's performance in the fully-deserved 3-1 win at Coventry this Saturday afternoon, and said the victory is a just reward for our hard-working players and supporters.
Reading coasted to the three points, with Grzegorz Rasiak getting two goals and the brilliant Jobi McAnuff smashing home his first strike in a Reading shirt.
Brendan said, "The result and performance are both very pleasing. I am delighted for the players because they have been working really hard, and I am delighted for our supporters as well because they've been fair with me.
"I thought we were excellent, we followed on from our performance against Leicester on Monday night but the difference was that we took our chances. The players were excellent and we deserved the three points."
The victory was set up by a first minute goal from Rasiak, who headed home McAnuff's sublime whipped cross. Brendan said, "For me, the best teams start quick and finish strong. It was a terrific move, a brilliant ball from Jobi, who was outstanding. Rasiak is in the team to be a threat and he did what he does best with his header.
"I was also pleased with the reaction after Coventry scored. Sometimes we have struggled in that situation when we've conceded but not today. We controlled the momentum of the game throughout, against a dangerous Coventry attack.
"We've not had the results we wanted to date, and whatever problems there have been, they have all been my responsibility, I will always accept that. I've been trying to find the best balance and the players have worked well, we saw that in the game today and it came together.
"I've got a terrific group of players with real quality in there and the spirit is strong. I've great faith in them and we'll look to move forward. I love the job, but you always need results, and this was a great one for us."
