Brendan pleased with settled team

Posted on: Tue 03 Nov 2009
Brendan Rodgers says that playing a settled team in the last two fixtures has helped increase our performance level.

The manager only made one enforced change to his team this weekend; the injured Matt Mills dropping out for club captain Ivar Ingimarsson, who was back from suspension.

After a good performance against Leicester, the team then carried on in the same vein and completely dominated Coventry, coasting to a 3-1 win at the Ricoh Arena.

Brendan said, "The balance of the team in the last couple of games has been strong. The guys in the shirt have got to work hard to stay in now. I wanted a settled, solid team and you could see that in the last two performances. Once we have that, we'll be more of a threat.

"On Saturday the dynamic was right. Offensively we were very good and defensively we were disciplined and strong.

"Before the game we gave the players the message to keep playing with the confidence, tempo and spirit, then the quality will come through. We did that on Saturday and I was very pleased, we deserved to win.

"In any game, even ones you dominate, there will be a period when you have to soak it up. In other games we've not been able to do that, but this time we showed our mentality. Coventry have got good quality up front, Morrison, Eastwood, Best, but our back four and keeper were outstanding, the organisation was good."

Tickets for this weekend's game with Ipswich are on general sale now. Telephone 0844 249 1871, use the online ticketing service or visit in person to book.
