Feds - 'Confidence is the key'

Posted on: Wed 25 Nov 2009
Adam Federici has singled out confidence as the key to Reading's recent upturn in form, as Brendan Rodgers' side made it seven points from a possible nine with victory over Blackpool.

Brett Ormerod's second half equaliser only proved to be a minor setback as the Royals battled back to claim all three points, something which 'Feds' believes may not have happened earlier in the campaign.

"I think confidence plays a big part in everything, the last four games have proved that even if we do let a goal in we have that drive and that belief that we can go on and win the game, because we believe that we are better than most teams in the Championship.

"That may not have been the case earlier in the season but since the loss to Q.P.R we've really started to kick on and you can see that belief."

Despite picking up a long overdue win at the Madejski the Australian stopper revealed he wouldn't be celebrating the triumph too spectacularly - as the squad immediately cast their minds to a trip to Derby next weekend.

"I'll just go home and relax, my bodies a bit sore from the last couple of weeks so I'll just go home and enjoy the win. I don't like to do too much celebrating. I'm here for football, I haven't left sunny Australia for nothing so I'm here to enjoy football - I go home and enjoy it my own way."

A tremendously tight Championship table sees the Royals sitting just a point off 16th place having only recently been confined to the relegation zone, and Adam insists that his teammates don't want their push up the table to stop just yet.

"If we keep our run of form going there's no reason why we can't make the play-offs, a few other people have done it from the bottom of the league, so why not us? We haven't played badly so we just need to go on from here and push up the table."
