Royals boss
Brendan Rodgers is delighted to have picked up his first home League win last weekend, and now wants to build on that victory when we travel to Derby this Saturday.
Grzegorz Rasiak's late strike earned a 2-1 win over Blackpool last weekend, and while the boss admits it was a millstone lifted from around the team's neck, he stressed the importance of now maintaining momentum.
He said, "We don't want to get carried away just because we won a home game. It was important, it was against a team that has been doing well, we've lifted the burden and must now build on it.
"It was relief, and I was happy for the players and fans. It's been a long time coming. The players had to carry the burden and we must now make our stadium a real hard place to come.
"Now it's Derby and that will be a really good game. We have to make sure we do things bit by bit. We're totally focused on Derby and getting a positive result there. The squad is happy and we want to keep moving forward.
"We went through a tough period, especially the QPR game, which was very disappointing. That night I didn't see anything in a team that I like. From then we had to look at it and ensure we concentrate on the performance level. I've had great support here, both from the supporters and the Chairman. He's a great man, if you're in a lifeboat you'd want him beside you!
"Derby have picked up most of their points at home this season. I went to see them at Swansea last week and by their own account they didn't play as well as they would have liked. Their motivation will be up, they have a big support and a magnificent stadium."
"Our team is more stable now, and when the core of the team is right I feel comfortable and confident, especially away from home. Our passing can frustrate teams and our pace can hurt them in behind."
