Live updates

2:40pm - Brendan Rodgers makes two changes to his starting XI, one enforced. Kalifa Cisse replaces Brian Howard, who is sidelined with a broken jaw, whilst Grzegorz Rasiak comes in for Jimmy Kebe - who drops to the bench. Brynjar Gunnarsson and Shaun Cummings are both named as substitutes.

2:41pm - Brian Laws makes three changes; Esajas, Beevers and Varney come in for Simek, Johnson and Clarke.

2:57pm - A rallying cry of 'let's get ready to rumble!' echoes around the stadium courtesy of the public address system, and that's the cue for Ivar Ingimarsson and James O'Connor to lead the two teams out into this historic ground.

2:59pm - 'Hi Ho Silver Lining' is the latest tune to reverberate around the ground as we prepare to get underway. A terrific atmosphere on a rather overcast day in South Yorkshire.
15:01pm  - There are a cluster of travelling fans away to our left as we look on from the press box, but it's the world renowned Wednesday band that are playing up at the moment.

15:03pm - Jay Tabb concedes a corner early on but some good hustling from the Royals backline ensure nothing comes of it.

15:04 pm - Great work from Simon Church down the left hand side, before Sigurdsson's cross forces a corner. It appears that we may be playing 4-3-3 again, with 'Churchy on the left of the attacking trio.

15:06 pm - Superb stuff from McAnuff this time. He drives into the area from the centre of midfield before Rasiak forces a corner. We look bright here - though can't capitalise from the set piece.

15:10pm - Jay Tabb is keeping track of Michael Gray and Luke Varney so far, though the Royals centre halves could be in for a busy day as the Owls' Tommy Spurr has a long throw in his armoury.

15:15pm - The tempo has dropped slightly but Marek Matejovsky is trying to raise it by pulling the strings in the middle of the park. Luke Varney looks a pacey threat for Wednesday.

15:18pm - We started with the stands rocking but the atmosphere has dampened somewhat in the last few minutes, no real chances for either side.

15:22pm - Simon Church has been replaced by Jimmy Kebe, looks like the Welsh international has picked up a knock.

15:27pm - A stray long distance effort from James O'Connor floats past Federici's post, that's the closest anyone has come so far in truth.

15:30pm - Sigurdsson is the latest to try one from range, but that's way over the bar.

15:36pm - Richard Hinds is booked for a foul on the edge of the Wednesday box, Gylfi Sigurdsson steps up and puts the free-kick inches wide from 30-yards.

15:41pm - Tenacious work from Jobi McAnuff wins another corner for the Royals, but Alex Pearce's flick on is hacked away.

15:45pm - A mazy dribble from Grzegorz Rasiak almost grants us the lead. He weaves past two players and into the six-yard-box, but is denied by a brave dive from Owls 'keeper Lee Grant.

HALF TIME

A tepid affair at times though Reading can claim to have a slight edge at the break. Gylfi Sigurdsson's long range free-kick is the closest anyone has come to opening the scoring.

16:04pm - Good start by the Royals and another chance for Grzegorz Rasiak. Great one-two between McAnuff and Matejovsky before Jobi floated a ball into the danger zone, only for the big Pole to head just over.

16:05pm - Again Grzegorz comes close, he's fed by McAnuff but can only toe poke an effort straight at Grant from ten yards out.

16:07pm - GOAL!!! That was always coming. McAnuff floats another dangerous ball in from the right hand side and this time Rasiak meets in perfectly, heading low into the bottom corner of the net.

16:10pm - Almost an immediate response from the home side - Tommy Spurr drives wide from distance.

16:11pm - Unbelievable stuff, again Rasiak is on the end of an inch-perfect cross, this time from Jay Tabb, but can only head straight at Grant. The Owls just aren't picking up Reading's number 23 in the second half.

16:15pm - That's as close as you'll ever get to a goal without the ball actually hitting the back of the net. Luke Varney spins and hits a rasping volley from the left side of the area, but it smashes against the inside of the post, fizzes across the goaline and somehow rolls out of danger.

16:19pm - Wednesday are looking to inject some life into their display. Jermaine Johnson is on for Michael Gray.

16:22pm - Gylfi Sigurdsson is coming off, to be replaced by Brynjar Gunnarsson.

16:23pm - Couple of quick corners from Sheffield Wednesday, but the Royals deal with both impeccably.

16:24pm GOAL! My, oh my, what a goal from the Royals! Jobi McAnuff is once again at the heart of proceedings, exhibiting a wonderful touch to bring down Gunnarsson's crossfield pass before playing a quick one-two with Matejovsky. He then dashes into the area before squaring for Cisse to stroke home. Breathtaking team goal.

16:28pm - The travelling fans are in good voice now, and so they should be - it's been a clinical second half display from Brendan Rodgers' side. Wednesday have thrown on Leon Clarke in the hope of getting something out of the game.

16:31pm - Another good, flowing move from Reading. Matejovsky spreads the ball out wide to Kebe, before Gunnarsson slides a pass through to Ryan Bertrand. Unfortunately the young full back's cross is deflected into the arms of Grant.

16:34pm - A good chance for Marcus Tudgay to head home at the far post, but the towering striker nods it high and wide.

16:35pm - Final throw of the dice for the Owls as Warren Feeney replaces Varney up top.

16:39pm - Wednesday have the ball in the net but it won't count. Leon Clarke bundles home but the linesman's flag was already up for offside.

16:43pm - Substitute Jermaine Johnson twists and turns the Royals back four on the edge of the area, but his low drive is well held by Federici.

16:44pm - Reading toy with the Owls on the right hand side of the box, playing keep ball before eventually unleashing McAnuff into the area, who clips in Grzegorz Rasiak. The Polish international is only denied a brace by a smart save.

16:48pm - The fourth official indicates that there will be a minimum of three minutes added on at the end of the half.
