'Actions speak louder than words'

Midfielder Jobi McAnuff is sure the Royals have enough quality to pull away from the bottom of the table - but knows the only way for the team to back up his assertion is by proving it on the pitch.

We picked up an important three points at home to Barnsley last weekend, and we now take on Doncaster and Plymouth in quick succession with a desire for more positive results.

He said, "The games we've got coming up are games that we've got to be getting points in. There are a lot of teams in and around us and if we're serious about getting out of the mess we're in then we have to pick up points like we did on Saturday, but we're confident.

"Generally we've been playing fairly well, we need to take more of our chances and if we keep it nice and tight then I'm sure we'll pull away. We know that in terms of our ability and what we're producing we're more than good enough, but it's a matter of doing it and not just talking about it.

"There's no one else to worry about except what we're doing, we've got the games coming up."

Last weekend's win against the Tykes was deserved, although we had to stand firm in the last ten minutes or so as Barnsley looked for an equaliser.

Jobi recalled, "It was one of those games I felt we were so on top, but at 1-0 they only need a long throw or a little scramble in the box and it can go in. But we defended really well, we're looking a lot more solid now and I think we're hard to beat."

McAnuff had a very good chance to make it 2-0 midway through the second half, but hit the post with 'keeper Luke Steele rooted to the spot. "It was one of those where the 'keeper was one side and I tried to hit it the other way. I think you try and be too precise when you haven't scored for a while, but the win is the main thing. Another goal would have made it a bit more comfortable but I'm delighted we got the win in the end."
