Zurab Khizanishvili made an impressive full debut for the Royals in our 2-1 home win over Plymouth, and was delighted to help the team to an important result.
The Georgian international was composed and unflustered throughout a hectic encounter, and but for Shane Long's goals he could easily have won man of the match honours.
He said, "I thought we played very well. We got the first goal, they got back into it but the ref made a good decision for the penalty and we got three important points.
"On the pitch we were talking at 1-1 and said 'we couldn't lose this game.' We left it late but the job was still done!"
The 28-year-old is on loan at Madejski Stadium until the end of the campaign, and said, "As soon as I got the offer from Reading I said yes. I know this team, I am enjoying the training ground, the lads are brilliant and being here is really good for me."
Khizanishvili is unfortunately cup-tied for this weekend's game with West Brom, but he gives his teammates his very best wishes. "It's a big game for us, I hope we do well and go to the next round."
Manager Brian McDermott was pleased with his debutant's performance, saying, "He did some really, really good things. He brought the ball down on his chest once or twice, played some really good balls and I was delighted for him, you could see he's a quality player."
