Stars from the Royals academy put in a performance beyond their years on Wednesday evening, to help Reading's second string to a 5-0 victory over Salisbury City.
With first team fixtures piling up the blue and white hoops were forced to field a side entirely made up of youth team players for the Totesport.com combination fixture, but they still produced a magnificent display.
Promising forward Jake Taylor opened the scoring before centre half Angus Macdonald stayed in the area following a half cleared corner, and was rewarded as he headed home a secondary cross.
The home side were three up at the break as Carl McHugh finished neatly to all but seal the three points.
There was no relenting in the second period, as Jacob Walcott bagged a well taken fourth before substitute Lawson D'Ath rounded up the scoring with the pick of the bunch; drifting past two City players before unleashing a twenty five yard strike into the corner with his left foot.
"It was a good night, we fielded one of the youngest reserve sides we've ever had and it was a comprehensive win," said Eamonn Dolan.
"We played it the Reading way, a high tempo, no fuss and I think Brian McDermott, Nigel Gibbs and Nicky Hammond would have been impressed - which is the important thing."
