O'Neill praise for Royal display

Posted on: Tue 09 Mar 2010

Martin O'Neill praised Reading for giving his Aston Villa side a real run for their money in our FA Cup quarter final.

His team had to produce an incredible performance to come from behind and earn a win that sees them face Chelsea in the semi-final of this year's competition.

O'Neill said, "Reading deserved to lead and I was quite pleased to go in at half-time just 2-0 behind.

"After our first half performance I think most of our players were grateful to get a second chance to go out for the second half.

"It was a great spell by us just after half time and we needed to do something because we had played so meekly in the first half.

"I thought Reading played very, very well in the first half. They kept turning us around all the time, winning the second ball and probably had no fear really because expectation was high on us."
