Jobi - It's great to be back

Posted on: Wed 17 Mar 2010
Winger Jobi McAnuff returned to the team to great effect in Saturday's win over Bristol City, and he says the team's excellent form made it easier to come back in and play well.

McAnuff was installed in the starting line-up after serving a three-game suspension, and the wideman made an immediate contribution when setting up Gylfi Sigurdsson's 12th minute goal with a sublime cross.

He said, "The boys have been flying so that makes it a lot easier to come and slot in. Confidence is high and I was pleased to play in another good win.

"I wasn't sure if I would come straight in, but thanksfully the manager picked me and I really enjoyed being back."

The Royals are in fabulous form with seven wins from eight in the League, and Jobi said, "It's a case of keeping it going. First of all we'll make sure we get to 50 or 52 points and then start looking forward to the rest of the season."

Jobi paid homage to Brian McDermott's managerial approach, which is certainly paying dividends and winning friends in the game. "I made reference to it in an interview for the programme how Brian goes about each game individually and picks the right approach. On Saturday he chose myself and Jimmy out wide with Shane in the middle and I think it showed in the performance.

"When you're winning games and the confidence is up, you don't feel any knocks or tiredness and you just want to crack on. I feel great, I've had a rest and I'm ready to go.

"Jimmy has been flying recently, scoring goals and I had a chat about that recently as well, I know I need to improve there. The main thing is for the team to win and me to contribute but I definitely want goals between now and the end of the season.

"QPR will be a tough game, Neil Warnock has gone in there and done well with two wins and a draw, which is very good considering their form and it will be a tough game. It's tight between us and I'm sure they'll go into it the same as us, thinking if they have a good run anything can happen."

Tickets for this evening's game are on general sale now to all Member Card holders. Telephone 0844 249 1871, use the online ticketing service or visit in person.
