Bertrand delighted with resolve

Posted on: Fri 19 Mar 2010

Ryan Bertrand was delighted to see the goal come in a tough tussle against the ten men of QPR on Tuesday night.

He said, "It was hard to come up against ten men, just like we experienced against Derby last week - but we were confident the goal would come. Even if they'd had eleven men I think it would have been the same sort of game. It would always have been close

"Neil Warnock's teams like to make it ugly and those sorts of teams are horrible to play against. Then with ten men, they just camped up, stayed in their holes and didn't come out and play. But we knew we just had to concentrate on our jobs and we got the result in the end. That's all that matters"

Gylfi Sigurdsson's late penalty earned Brian McDermott's men their eighth win from nine league games and the Royals' astonishing revival continues.

Bertrand commented, "No-one would have thought that this sort of run was even possible when they beat us at their place earlier this season, but it shows how far we've come.

"We just want to win the next game. We're just concentrating on the next game and doing what we have to do."
