Pearce grateful for break

Posted on: Tue 07 Sep 2010

Alex Pearce hopes the Royals squad will head into their game with Crystal Palace fresh, as many players enjoyed a weekend off thanks to the international break.

Eleven members of Brian McDermott's setup represented their nations over the past few days, whilst those remaining at Hogwood Park enjoyed a rest after a injury hit start to the Championship campaign.

"It is very quiet at the moment, a lot of the lads are away but it's a good chance to get some training under your belt and get a good rest," said Pearce.

"We've just had a couple of days off which was nice, I went away and saw the family but now we'll have a good week's training ready for the game against Palace.

"Everyone was able to take a breather for a second and get themselves right, get themselves ready and we used the break well - it was a good chance for the players not away to get a break."
