Boss Brian McDermott has thanked
Lee Hendrie as the midfielder's trial spell with the Royals comes to its conclusion.
Hendrie, 33, trained with the Royals for just over a week and played for our reserves in a 1-1 draw with Brighton on Tuesday.
He will not be offered terms at Madejski Stadium, but McDermott has wished him all the very best.
Brian told
readingfc.co.uk, "First and foremost I'd like to thank Lee, he is a top guy and was great around the place.
"Having him here was a shot to nothing for us, I've got great respect for him and I just felt that making a quick decision was the right thing for him and for us.
"He wants to get himself playing at as high a level as possible, and I wish I'd met him three or four years ago because he's a top guy. I could have kept him around the place for a little longer but it wouldn't have been fair and we wish him well."
