Cywka: It was an instant decision

Posted on: Sat 28 Jan 2012
New Royals signing Tomasz Cywka has revealed that he knew instantly he wanted to join the club, and abandoned plans of a return to his native Poland as soon as he learned of the interest.

The 23-year-old creative midfielder was on the verge of agreeing a long term deal in Eastern Europe, but is delighted to stay in England at Madejski Stadium.

"It feels great, Reading is a great club with a big history so I am very happy to be here," he told Reading FC Player in an exclusive interview.

"I was very close to signing a deal in Poland but then I found out about the offer from Reading, and I made a decision within five minutes that I wanted to come back to the UK.

"I know Reading is a club that is looking to gain promotion and are always fighting for the best possible position in the Championship."

Tomasz found the net for Derby County in the 2-2 draw with Brian McDermott's men earlier this season, and the Polish under 21 international is clearly hoping to continue the scoring habit at the home of the Royals.

"I remember that game because it was the first proper game I played for Derby this season, I scored to make it 2-1 but it ended up 2-2.

"It was great to score in that game, there was a good atmosphere in the stadium and it will be good to be back here but in a different shirt this time.

"I can play on both wings or behind the striker as an offensive midfielder, I like to create good opportunities for the striker or to score on my own."
