Brian McDermott has called for complete focus on football this weekend, as the Royals prepare to take on Bristol City at Madejski Stadium.

After a busy week for the club off the field, in which Reading has been thrust into the media spotlight, McDermott is determined to concentrate fully on the visit of the Robins.

"I'm looking forward to focussing on football matters really," said Brian.

"There have been a lot of things going on which have been really important to the club - which I've obviously been involved in as well, but the most important thing is that we concentrate on the Bristol City game.

"We want to create a real big atmosphere, the most important thing now is that everything is out, it's very transparent - and now it's about the football. It's about trying to win the game and putting on a real performance."

Football matters will no doubt be bolstered by three positive pieces of transfer news; Jimmy Kebe's extended deal was followed on Thursday afternoon by the arrivals of Jason Roberts and Tomasz Cywka.

"Signing Jimmy is like signing a new player, there was a possibility we were going to lose him but we haven't. I'm absolutely delighted that Jimmy has committed to us, it's a really big signing for us.

"Tomasz is a player that can play a number ten role or can play wide either side so, I know him really well. I've known him for a long time, since he was at Wigan, and I just felt that he was a player that we haven't' got at the club - something a little bit different. He's a really good lad and wants to work hard - he's turned down a three and a half year deal in Poland to come here until the end of the season so that tells you something about him.

"Jason Roberts speaks for himself, he gives us that strength, pace and a power, we've got an experienced striker to add to our mix. It was difficult to get him out of Blackburn, but we've managed to do it - there was a lot of competition to sign him but he was very committed to us."
