Product of the Chelsea youth academy who joined the Royals in the summer of 2009 on a three-year deal.
A right back with admirable attacking tendencies, the Hammersmith-born defender got his first taste of first team football with MK Dons - making 32 appearances for the League One side in the 2008/09 season.
He mirrored manager Roberto Di Matteo's switch to West Brom for the following campaign, but saw his loan deal at the Hawthorns cut short as Reading signalled their intent with a permanent transfer.
He made his Royals debut away to Peterborough in September, and played a total of eight games in his first full season at Madejski Stadium.
The arrival of Andy Griffin made it hard for him to get first team action under his belt, but he continued to train well and when called upon showed his potential as an undeniable hot prospect for the future of Reading's backline.
Indeed after injuries to Jimmy Kebe and Hal Robson-Kanu, Cummings was asked to start on the wing in our play-off semi-final second leg clash with Cardiff City in May 2011 - and responded with a strong display that helped Brian McDermott's men on their way to a famous 3-0 victory.
