Under 18s net narrow defeat
Our under 18s lost 3-2 at home to Middlesbrough on Saturday.
We opened the scoring through Gary Frewen [pictured] on 35 minutes, with the Irish youth international only having been on the pitch for five minutes, replacing Mitchell Bryant.
Boro then took control of the game though, and Nicholas Bignall netted our second on the hour.
Alex McCarthy lined up in goal for our youngsters, and he then played for Blue Square Premier side Woking on Monday on a work experience basis.
Schoolboy Abdulai Baggie made his debut at this level, while fellow schoolboy Oliver Kelly was on the bench.
Reading: McCarthy; Spence, Kelly, Cox, Kamdjo; Webb, Sigurdsson, Bayley, Bryant (Frewen 30); Bignall, Illugason (Baggie 85)
Subs: Mitchell, Kelly
We won our first game of the season last week when we beat Derby 3-1, and highlights are on Reading World now, including a 40-yarder from Gylfi Sigurdsson.
