Youngsters win closes the gap on Villa

Posted on: Tue 30 Oct 2007

Reading kept up their good form with a 2-1 victory at home to Birmingham City on Saturday.

The Royals are continuing to push for the Premier League academy title which they finished second to Leicester City in last season.

The win over the Blues is the Royals fifth on the bounce as they keep the pressure on league leaders Aston Villa.

And they have now narrowed the gap on Villa to just one point, after the West Mdlands outfit could only draw 1-1 with Cardiff City.

The Royals goals came from Nicholas Bignall on the hour mark and then Gylfi Sigurdsson on 74 minutes.
