Jem Karacan made his debut for Turkey's under 21 team on Wednesday evening.
The midfielder made his first appearance at this level in a 2-1 defeat away to Armenia, and he came on for the last half an hour.
He has previously played for Turkey's under 19s, but made the step up for this match in Yerevan.
The match was a qualifier for the upcoming UEFA Under 21 Championships, and Turkey are now one point behind group leaders Czech Republic with two games to play, one of them a key match against the Czechs in Ataturk.
Jem is a 19-year-old central midfielder who is on the verges of the Reading first team.
A slight knock meant he was on the bench for our Carling Cup game at Dagenham last week, and could start in next week's match with Luton.
