Full back Julian Kelly and forward Simon Church have been rewarded for their ongoing progression by being handed one-year extensions on their existing contracts.

Defender Kelly, 19, who has made six first team appearances for the first team this season, has signed until June 2011, while 19-year-old striker Church penned a deal to June 2010.

Director of Football Nick Hammond said, "Julian is a versatile player who is comfortable in either full back position or further up the pitch. He has good technical ability and is learning all the time.

"Churchy had good exposure with the Wales under-21 squad recently and is now continuing his education with a loan spell at Wycombe, under a really good manager in Peter Taylor.

"They are part of group of youngsters who have progressed together, along with the likes of Jem Karacan, James Henry and Alex Pearce, and we hope they will both feature regularly in the first team squad in the future."

Kelly came to Reading after leaving Arsenal's Academy, and has started for us in three Carling Cup games, with three further sub appearances in the Championship.

Church is currently on loan at Wycombe and has been on the bench for the Royals for a couple of Carling Cup games.

He has also been on loan at Crewe and Yeovil, and scored three goals in two games for Wales' under 21s against England last month.
