The Royal Families - the charity fundraising group set up by our players' wives and girlfriends - will launch this season's events with a Race Night at Madejski Stadium early next month, and tickets are on sale now.

Chief organiser this year is Nicky Shorey's wife Emily, who told readingfc.co.uk, "Last season's Race Night was really successful so we've decided to do it again!

"It will take place on Friday 9th November at Madejski Stadium's Royal Berkshire Conference Centre, and tickets are priced at just £25 which includes a curry and rice meal.

"The evening starts at 8pm and there will be eight televised races, and other events like Heads or Tails, a raffle and an auction with some fab prizes.

"Reading players will be in attendance and the evening will be a great opportunity to mix with them in a relaxed environment outside of football.

"This is one of the only charity events you can attend where you could end up leaving with more money than you came with and still be helping our charity!"
