Families want to go one better

Posted on: Thu 15 Nov 2007

The Royal Families charity group are hoping to do even better than last year.

The group raised an incredible £105,000 for good causes last season with some superb hard work, led by Karen Murty and Amanda Hahnemann.

Emily Shorey and Olga Gunnarsson have now been handed the reins, and the new ladies in charge hope to build on last year's efforts.

Our online TV station Reading World caught up with Emily at the Race Night last week, the first of this year's events.

She said, "It was £105,000 last season so Olga and I would like to exceed that.

"We're now up to £50,000 so £110,000 is what we are aiming for."

Emily is aided by her husband Nicky, who is charged with the task of rounding up the players.

She commented, "It's Nicky who has to deal with that! I send him into work with the tickets, and he rallies the troops.

"I only deal with one player, and sometimes I have to ask him 10 times to get things done!"

The next event is the Christmas Party on Tuesday 11th December - click here for a booking form.

A gallery of pictures from Friday night is online now.

The full interview with Emily is on Reading World now.
