Steve Coppell has given an update on his summer transfer plans.

Our online TV station Reading World caught up with the boss in his office at the training ground this morning, and he told us that he is still concentrating on a new central midfielder.

He confirmed that he wants someone with experience to help bolster the squad ahead of the imminent Barclays Premier League season.

He told us, "If you look at the squad, so far we've replaced Sidwell with Cisse.

"But, looking at the core and the balance, we're probably still light in central midfield.

"Ideally I'd sign another senior central midfielder. We've got players who can play there, but they're not all specialists. It has become a specialist position.

"After that, we can look at the squad and we'd have two in each position. I think we'd be as insulated as we can be.

"You can't get the crystal ball out, but you can almost guarantee we'll use 20-plus players this season, so it would be nice to have that from the start."

There is much more from Steve in this in-depth interview, including why there may be smoke around Seol's future, injuries to Hunt & Hahnemann, the Wolves game, the title race and more.

You can sign up to World for just £1.99, but hurry because the offer must close on 5th August.
