Ten winners at training ground

Posted on: Thu 01 Nov 2007

On Monday 22nd October, ten lucky Young Royals competition winners attended Hogwood training ground to meet the players.

The members arrived at 10.15am wearing their Young Royals lanyards and were greeted by Kingsley who gave them a goodie bag each containing a Chupa Chups sugar free lolly, Reading FC matchday programme, flag, yearbook, team poster and a Merlin 'Kick off' sticker album with a packet of stickers.

As soon as training began, the Young Royals party positioned themselves in the dugouts to watch. Wally Downes welcomed the group and the young fans watched in awe as their heroes were put through their paces.

At the end of the session, the Young Royals lined up to take penalties against Marcus who cheekily asked one of the youngsters which way he was shooting!

The players signed autographs and posed for photographs with the young fans - a great end to a very enjoyable morning for our winners!

Jack Giddings
Jack would like to thank you for a great day out; he is over the moon to have put a penalty passed Marcus. Please thank all concerned for a most enjoyable experience.

Georgie Freeman
Thank you and everyone at Reading for a great day yesterday. Georgie had a brilliant time and even overcame his shyness and talked to Stephen Hunt. I didn't quite manage the same when Steve Coppell went past us :)

George Potter
Thank you very much for a great time at Hogwood Park. I had a really good time. It was great to see all the players, get some autographs and shoot a penalty against Marcus Hahnemann. I really enjoyed the day. I've been busy telling my friends all about it.
