Phil Saunders was selected as the lucky Young Royal winner of a Half Season Ticket last month and his first game he saw was our Boxing Day draw with Cardiff City.
By winning the competition, Phil also won his dad, Mike Saunders, a half season ticket and both were royally entertained in the first match of their half season ticket!
"You've no idea how excited I was to win the Young Royals competition prize of a half-season ticket," Phil wrote in his report from the 1-1 with City.
"The crowd was bigger than I expected so soon after the turkey sandwiches - there were 22,770 people watching the match which made it our second highest home attendance of the season! The singing was some of the best I've heard.
"The match itself was tight," he writes. "Cardiff seemed a bit rough and from our view there was no way their striker was going to get the ball when he lunged at Federici.
"All the players were trying hard and Doobs was getting a lot of stick. I thought we were heading for a draw and dropping points, but then my heart sank: Cardiff scored and their players and fans went mad. What a start to my half season!
"The Royals seemed to work harder and be more positive but people hurriedly left the Mad Stad to get to their cars. We won a corner in the dying seconds and then, when Adam Federici scored in the 95th minute to save us a point, the stadium erupted and it was the Reading fans who were now singing and dancing.
"If someone turned up at the final whistle, they would have never guessed that it was only a draw - the Reading fans were still singing and dancing and the Cardiff fans were trying to get onto the pitch.
"Overall my first match as a season ticket holder has been fantastic! And if you were there when Adam Fed's shot went in for the equaliser, I guess you may know how I felt when I'd won the half season ticket. I can't wait for the Hornets in 2009."
