Play-offs prove fruitful for one fan

Posted on: Wed 10 Jun 2009

The play-offs did not work out the way Reading fans wanted - but the talents of one member of our Young Royal supporters club saw him take a walk down Wembley Way for the play-off final!

In April the Young Royals ran a competition for a junior journalist, and Sam Keogh was our winner for his report about the home game with Barnsley, which you can read here.

Sam's report was then put forward for a national competition between Football League clubs and was rightly crowned the overall winner.

As a result, Sam and his family were invited to Wembley for the Championship play-off final between Burnley and Sheffield United.

He was down by the pitch before and after the game, and as shown in this photograph he spoke to winning manager Owen Coyle.

After such a great day as a guest of the Football League, Budding journalist Sam was inspired to write a special report outlining just how much he enjoyed the day.

Sam will now be a regular writer for Reading FC in the coming season.
