'Alfie' began his career with his hometown club Stockport, scoring on his League One debut and going on to notch 20 goals in 32(+41) appearances for the Hatters.
He made a loan move to Rochdale in the latter part of the 2006/7 season, and after scoring 4 goals in 7 starts, including another on his debut, he made the move permanent that summer.
His 17 goals in 33 starts helped Keith Hill's side to a Wembley play-off final in 2008, and he scored another 21 in 32 starts the following season as Dale reached the play-off semi-finals.
His goalscoring prowess earned him a move to Rotherham United, and once more he scored on his debut, going on to notch an incredible 30 goals in 50(+1) appearances as his team reached the play-offs. He scored in both legs of the semi-final and after a second Wembley appearance in three years he was named in the Football League's divisional team of the year, as voted by his fellow professionals.
During the 2010/11 season he scored another 24 goals from 44(+5) appearances, and he has never gone more than six games without a goal for United. Last season he scored four goals in a 6-4 win over Cheltenham, a feat he has already achieved twice in his career.
He started the following campaign where he left off the last, scoring 4 goals in 5 starts, and it came as no surprise when he scored in what proved to be his final game for the Millers before penning a three year deal with the Royals.

'Alfie' scored some truly vital goals as a starter and substitute, helping the Royals to promotion to the Barclays Premier League in 2011/12. His late double away at Southampton in April 2012 epitomised the striker's ability and character.
Was the Royals top scorer again the following season with 14 goals, eight of which were from the substitute's bench - setting a new Premier League record in the process. In recognition, Adam was voted by fans as the Player of the Season for 2012/13.
