After returning from UEFA U21 European Championships in 2015 as part of Gareth Southgate’s squad, Jonathan Bond signed a three year contract with the Royals.
Bond is a very highly-rated young keeper who has five England Under 21 caps. He has also spent time in Wales' youth setup from under-17s to under-21s, training with their full national team alongside Chris Gunter. At 6'4" he cuts an imposing presence between the posts with great attributes and natural ability.
Jonathan has had a strong start to his senior career, and was a very able deputy to Brazilian international Heurelho Gomes as Watford surged to promotion into the Premier League in the 2014/15 season. On his second Championship appearance for Watford against Derby he was named man of the match following a series of stunning stops, and in the past he has also learned from backing up Manuel Almunia in the Hornets' goalkeeping ranks.
