After returning from the UEFA U21 European Championships in 2015 as part of Gareth Southgate’s squad, Jonathan Bond signed a three year contract with the Royals.
Bond is a very highly-rated young keeper who has five England U21 caps. He has also spent time in Wales' youth setup from U17s to U21s, training with their full national team alongside Chris Gunter. At 6'4" he cuts an imposing presence between the posts with great attributes and natural ability.
Jonathan has had a strong start to his senior career, and was a very able deputy to Brazilian international Heurelho Gomes as Watford surged to promotion into the Premier League in the 2014/15 season.
On his second Championship appearance for Watford against Derby he was named man of the match following a series of stunning stops, and in the past he has also learned from backing up Manuel Almunia in the Hornets' goalkeeping ranks.
Bond made his Royals bow in the opening league game of the 2015/16 season away at Birmingham, one of 14 appearances he completed that campaign.
