On loan from Arsenal, Emi Martinez joined the Royals in January 2019 and kept guard between the posts for the remainder of the season.
This wasn’t however, the first time the Argentine shot-stopper has gloved up at Madejski Stadium. He was given ‘keeper duty during Arsenal’s visit in the Capital One Cup back in 2012.
He started his career with the Gunners and made his debut in English football on loan with Oxford United in League Two.
Martinez’ Arsenal debut came in the Champions League against Anderlecht in 2014, one of six appearances for Arsene Wenger’s side before joining Rotherham on loan to end the season.
Wolves and Getafe also signed the goalkeeper for their services on loan before Reading swooped for the stopper where he played 18 games and kept five clean sheets as the Royals avoided the drop in 2018-19.
