Callum Harriott

Date of birth

He was brought in by the Royals as one of the summer signings ready for the 2016-17 Championship season, putting pen to paper on a three-year deal at Madejski Stadium.

A talented left-sided forward and a product of Charlton’s Academy, Callum Harriott joined the Addicks at U9 level.

He progressed through their youth ranks to make his debut for the senior team in April 2011 in a League One Cup game against Rochdale, at just 17 years of age.

Although he didn’t feature in Charlton’s promotion-winning side of 2011-12, he made his Championship bow the following year in the season opener against Blackpool at The Valley.

His first professional goal game in the same competition only five days later after his 19th birthday, Harriot scoring the winner in a 1-0 victory at Huddersfield in March 2013.

The following year he scored five goals in the final two league fixtures of Athletic’s second tier campaign – a brace against Watford to ensure Charlton’s Championship safety, then a hat-trick at Blackpool on the final day of the 2013-14 season.

In 2015-16, Harriott enjoyed a loan spell at Colchester – scoring seven goals in 22(+1) appearances for United before returning to Charlton to find the net twice in a win at Brentford and then score the second in victory against high-flying Middlesbrough in March.

Undoubtedly his moment of his debut season at Reading was his Boxing Day goal against Norwich City, an effort he arrowed high into the Canaries net before celebrating with a packed Madejski Stadium at the end of a 3-1 win. He had scored twice in an EFL Cup win over MK Dons earlier in the season, but an injury suffered when taking a shot against Fulham in a game that was abandoned for fog, ended his season early.
