Born in San Gregorio, Argentina, Boyé first emerged as a young professional at River Plate - he made his Primera División bow in a 1–1 draw against Gimnasia y Esgrima and four days later he scored his first goal, helping River Plate to a 3–1 win over San Lorenzo.

A loan stint in La Liga began in January 2018, joining Celta Vigo until the end of the Spanish season and, last season, Lucas got his first taste of European competition when he featured for AEK Athens in the Champions League.

During his loan spell in the Greek capital, he played against Bayern Munich, Ajax and Benfica in the group stages of last year’s competition and earned a third-placed finish in the league to qualify for this season’s Europa League.

He joined the Royals ranks on loan for 2019-20.
