A defender reaping the benefits of our Category One Academy, Teddy Howe came through our setup at Hogwood to make his debut for the senior team against Birmingham in the final game of the 2018-19 season.
Son of the Reading director Nigel Howe, Teddy also played an important role within the U23’s that season, playing 20(+2) games for Scott Marshall’s side.
They competed in the semi-finals of both the Premier League International Cup, facing European giants Bayern Munich and Newcastle respectively – both games needing extra-time and against the Magpies it was penalties to decide the difference between the two.
Slough Town were also their opponents in the Berks and Bucks Senior Cup final making it an impressive trio of games for the U23s.
Howe lobbed Maidenhead’s goalkeeper from 20 yards in the semi-finals at York Road to take the tie into extra-time in a game that the Royals won 4-3 on penalties.
He was given a substitute appearance against Birmingham City on the final game of the season when he was given the armband for the final 10 minutes of the season.
