Super-sub Coleman seals three points for young Royals

Ethan Coleman came off the bench to score and give the Royals' U18s their first win of the season in the U18 Premier League, beating Tottenham Hotspur 1-0 at Hogwood.

Coleman's effort seven minutes from time, along with a clean sheet, lifts the Royals above West Ham United in the U18 Premier League table following victory against Scott Parker's side.

Royals' Women seal dominant win at Liverpool

1 October 2017

A very young Royals' starting line-up, which included several representatives from the U16s, were resolute in defence to hold on in the final moments and seal a well-earned win at Hogwood on Saturday morning, despite Spurs' best efforts in the closing stages.

Manager David Dodds says the result will be a boost to his young side, particularly going into the international break, with no league match scheduled for his squad this weekend.

Speaking after the match, Dodds said: "We've been putting parts of the game together, we've been playing out from the back really well and getting in the final third.

"Sometimes in the final third we haven't been creating as much as possibly we should have, and we've been putting a lot of work in during the last couple of weeks and they've been a lot more effective in the final third.

"I thought we created a lot more chances than we had done, so that was good. Credit to the young lads who have come in as well, they did really well.

"All in all, we were a little bit anxious just towards the end, Tottenham had a couple of chances, but it was a good boost in performance and result as well.

Royals back in Checkatrade Trophy action on Tuesday

"Jordan Holsgrove was back with us having been away with Scotland, he's always a steadying influence in midfield. He deals with the ball really well, so it was good to see him back playing and helping some of the younger lads as well.

"They've put a performance together more consistently. We might have a little in-house game between ourselves on Saturday, but we'll be certainly working to push on what we've been doing and getting better."

Next up for the U18s in their league is a trip to face Norwich City on October 14th.
