Reading's Under-18s put on a strong performance to beat their Swansea City counterparts 3-1 in the U18 Premier League South at Hogwood at the weekend.
Despite the Swans starting quickly at the weekend, the young Royals had the chance to open the scoring from the spot early on, when Lynford Sackey was fouled in the box.
Josh Hewitt stepped up to take the resulting penalty, calmly slotting past the Swans' goalkeeper to give the Royals an early lead.
The young Royals held onto their lead throughout, looking to assert themselves on the play and they eventually doubled their lead just after the hour mark through Claudio Osorio, who quickly made it a brace shortly afterwards to put Reading in a commanding position in the match.
Reading looked to see the game out late on, but Swansea continued to push to get back into the game, and did pull one back through Joshua Thomas four minutes from time.
The Royals earned three deserved points on the day, though, and notched their first win of the U18 Premier League South season.
Our Scholars had shown fight the previous weekend to come back from a 3-1 deficit to draw 3-3 against West Ham, alongside a well-earned point at home to Leicester in mid-August - to put our youngsters on five points from as many games to start the season.
