Kelly Chambers’ Royals put on an inspiring display, as they went 2-0 and 10-women down, before goals from Kristine Leine, Brooke Chaplen and Jade Moore sealed an incredible away win.
The deadlock was broken in the 4th minute when some confusion between Angharad James and Grace Moloney lead to a backpass and an indirect free-kick for West Ham in the Reading area. The close range effort was struck well by Katharina Baunach to give the home side the lead.
Royals first attempt on goal came five minutes later when Amalie Eikeland found herself in some space on the right hand side and unleashed a shot which was just over the West Ham bar.
Minutes later, Eikeland was brought down as she beat her marker and was about to break into acres of space. Eikeland got to her feet quickly, wanting to play the advantage, but the referee waved the play back to the frustration of the Royals.
There were chances at both ends from Eikeland and Kiernan as the tempo refused to die down.
As the 4th Official signalled for an additional 2 minutes to be added to the end of the first-half, Rachel Rowe was deemed by the refer to have pushed Kenza Dali in front of the West Ham bench and was shown a red card.

Despite the numbers disadvantage, Reading came out strong and hit the woodwork 2 minutes into the second-half when Fara Williams’ free-kick beat the West Ham wall and goalkeeper Moorhouse, but struck the post.
Minutes later, Eikeland received the ball, unmarked at the back post but her header went high and over the bar, as Reading went agonisingly close again.
Against the second-half run of play, West Ham doubled their just after the hour mark after a scrappy goal-mouth scramble saw Leanne Kiernan poke the ball away.
Reading didn’t let up and kept chasing the play. This paid off in the 75th minute when Kristine Leine scored her second goal of the week when she turned in a corner from Williams.
A single minute later, Williams floated a ball through for Brooke Chaplen, who nodded it forward, took a touch and slotted past Moorhouse to level the score.
The visiting side didn’t sit back and play for the point, they smelt blood in the water and wanted to hit while the iron was hot, as both Sophie Howard and Fara Williams hit the bar. The Royals sensed that the winner was near, and in the 83rd minute it came. A Williams corner came across goal to Leine at the back post, who pushed the ball across the face of the goal for Jade Moore to put it away for an incredible Reading win.
