Striker looks to opening dayStriker Adam Le Fondre believes Stoke have set the standard for promoted clubs and is looking forward to Saturday’s challenge against the Staffordshire side.
Tony Pulis’ men will be competing in the promised land for the fifth successive season – something the Royals will love to emulate. Le Fondre believes the Potters are the benchmark for newly promoted sides and is determined to stand up to them.
ALF praised the effectiveness of Stoke’s direct style of play but is confident in Reading’s ability to combat the Potters and enforce Reading’s own way of playing on them.
He said, “Stoke have been in the Premier League for a long time now and they are the benchmark for a lot of teams that get promoted.
“They have their own style of play and the do the job effectively. We have to break them down and impose our own style of play on them.
“With the pace and tempo that we play at I’m sure we can make it a difficult task for them – especially on the counter.”
After illustrating his goalscoring prowess throughout the Football League, the former Rotherham man is confident that he can do the business in the Premier League.
“I’ve always had the belief that I’d score goals, no matter what level. I feel that if I get a chance I’ll score, and I don’t think the Premier League should be any different.”
