Kelly Chambers appointed RFC Women's Manager
There have been a lot of changes to the Women’s team this season, with the stepping down of former manager Phil Cousins being one of them.
The Women’s team now sees former captain Kelly Chambers step up and take the role of first team manager.
Kelly - whilst already being Director of Women's and Girls' football at the club - has big aspirations for the season ahead in her new role, hoping to push on for promotion and progress the Women’s team even further.
"It's great to step up and be manager, I have a great bunch of girls to work with and they really get their heads down and get stuck in," says Chambers.
"It was a shame to see Phil go as he did some great work with the team but we wish him every success in the future."
Kelly also reflects on a tough season gone as the team found themselves relegated on goal difference.
"Relegation is always hard but strangely enough we can see its benefits - the team was quite young last season so competition was hard and we had a number of players join and leave half-way through the season too. We can now take the time to rebuild, our focus is now entirely on getting promoted this season.
"We have a great team spirit and there's a healthy balance of youth and experience in the first and reserve teams."
The new manager has been keeping her eye on the efforts of the Great Britain Women's team taking part in London 2012 and offered her thoughts on the brilliant 1-0 victory over Brazil.
"It must have been a great experience for all who were there and to see them beat such a strong side. The GB team are looking really strong. The team is obviously solid and there are a number of promising young players coming through which is always good to see."
