Dodds hails Boreham Partnership

14 August 2012

Royals Academy play this Wednesday

Assistant Academy manager David Dodds is thrilled by the club’s unique partnership with Boreham Wood Football Club and can’t wait for his youngsters to play the Conference South club.

The Royals youngsters will take on the local outfit at 1pm this Wednesday 14th August - with the game being played at the Conference South side's Meadow Park ground.

A two-year contract was agreed between the clubs this summer which will create exclusivity with the Elite of Boreham Wood’s PASE Scheme players and include various additional initiatives.

Dodds is excited by the new partnership and looks forward to working closely with Boreham Wood Chairman Danny Hunter.

“We are looking forward to playing against our new partner non-league club next week,” he said. “Boreham Wood have a tradition of developing players from 16 to 18 years of age. Danny Hunter has now added U16 players this season to their development programme, so we’re excited about that.”

The Royals’ Academy is also boosted by the fact that Dodds and Academy manager Eamonn Dolan will have first choice of any talented youngsters from the Hertfordshire club.

“It’s a big advantage that we have first draft pick of any promising players who show potential to play in our first team. Their set up covers all the bases and, not only do the players get a chance to improve and play football for a living, but they are also challenged in all academic levels.

“Danny and his team have already placed players into the professional game and we feel it is only a matter of time before we get an outstanding player from their conveyor belt of talent. Our under 21s have already had a tough test against their first team and we look forward to having lots of interaction between the two clubs.”
