Feds Fronts Up

20 August 2012

"I'm very hard on myself"

Adam Federici says he will be his own harshest critic following the uncharacteristic error that allowed Stoke City to open the scoring at Madejski Stadium this past weekend.

The Australian international has been a consistently outstanding performer for the Royals in recent times, keeping 20 clean sheets on his way to the Championship title in the 2011/12 campaign.

“It’s been a long journey and I’ve come a long way to get to the Premier League, so it’s a bit disappointing on my behalf – but the boys worked extremely hard and they deserve to be happy with a point,” he said.

“People ask if I was relieved when we got the equaliser - I’m not relieved as such because I’m very hard on myself. I don’t make those mistakes in training let alone in games so I’m a bit embarrassed. I’ve been dreaming about playing in the Premier League for a long time.

“That said I didn’t let it affect me for the rest of the game. It’s early days in the season, there’s a long way to go and I’m looking forward to every game – next up Chelsea on Wednesday.”
