Gunter return close

9 August 2012

Chris could face Eagles

Summer signing Chris Gunter may make his first appearance in a Reading shirt when we face Crystal Palace at home this Saturday, kick off 3pm.

The right back picked up an ankle problem on our pre-season training camp in Portugal, but is recovering well and is close to being involved when we take on the Eagles.

Fellow new signings Pavel Pogrebnyak, Danny Guthrie, Garath McCleary and Adrian Mariappa will all be preparing for a first appearance at Madejski Stadium in a Reading shirt, and it should be a special moment for Nicky Shorey as he dons the blue and white hoops for the first time in four years.

Apart from Jimmy Kebe's hamstring injury and Jason Roberts' calf problem, the Royals have a decent bill of health at the moment. Jem Karacan played another 45 minutes for a Reading FC XI in midweek as he makes an excellent recovery from a broken ankle, and is again likely to play for the same XI when they take on Eastleigh on Saturday.

Tickets for the game are cheaper when bought in advance - only £5 concessions and £10 adults. Go to www.readingfcdirect.co.uk, call 0844 249 1871 or visit the Ticket Office in person.
