Manager delighted with Danny's return
Royals manager Brian McDermott praised the attitude of Danny Guthrie after making his first start for the Royals since October.
Brian was delighted with the midfielder's solid performance on his return to the starting line-up, as well as Danny's integration with the squad over the past fortnight.
"There's been a lot of talk about Danny recently and we can talk about football now," said Brian. "In the last couple of weeks he's really integrated and become part of the group and what we're trying to do at Reading. I thought he did well and I was delighted for him.
"He conducted himself really well. We all know what's gone on but that's history, and he's very much one of us."
Guthrie came in for Jay Tabb in midfield as, despite Jay's valiant performances for the Royals, Brian explained he was looking for a slightly different approach in the middle of the park.
"He worked hard, you could see he's a good passer of the ball and did well for the group," McDermott added.
"Tabby has done fantastically for us, we know that, and it was just a different dynamic in midfield, we thought we could get a pass to get Pav or Alfie in."
