Happy Anniversary Brian!

Royals boss marks three years in charge

Sunday 16th December 2012 marks Brian McDermott’s third year anniversary as manager of Reading Football Club!

The former Slough Town boss was handed Madejski Stadium’s hot seat on the same day in 2009 – with the Royals lying 21st in the Championship table, just three points clear of relegation.

Three years later and he has taken the club to two historic FA Cup quarter finals, a play-off final and a Championship title – giving Berkshire only its second taste of top flight football in 141 years!

Brian was voted as the LMA’s Championship manager of the year for the 2011/12 season – and is the thirteenth longest serving manager out of all 92 League clubs.

Despite a tough start to the Premier League season, McDermott’s win percentage still holds up to comparison with other top flight bosses – ahead of hugely respected names such as Sam Allardyce, Harry Redknapp and David Moyes.

Matchday magazine "The Royal" will take a special look at Brian's time in charge in its Arsenal edition on Monday evening, whilst the official website is currently showcasing a picture gallery of the manager's best snaps from the last 1095 days!
