Bigger games ahead

Bryn on friendly

Brynjar Gunnarsson was not overly pleased with the result in a friendly defeat to Sheffield Wednesday, but happy for him and his teammates to get more minutes under their belts.

While result are of course not important in friendlies, Bryn and his Royal teammates would have preferred to win the game.

But with no points on offer, the Icelander was happy to use it as another rung on the pre-season fitness ladder.

He said, "Everyone got another 45 minutes under our belts, that's what we have to take from it at the moment.

"We obviously can play better, create even more and their goals where from I think only about three or four chances in total.

"The second goal we were a bit unlucky with, it was a cheap one to give away but we take the fitness out of it, we've trained well and hard over the days before so we have to take it into account.

"They'll be pleased with the win of course but hopefully we've got important wins ahead of us in the league this season."

Gunnarsson has had two appearances at full back on this trip, and is pleased to pull on a Reading shirt no matter what position.

"I feel fine, I'll play right back midfield, wherever, it doesn't matter. Everyone is getting a game, that's important."
