Nick Hammond

17 July 2012

Director of Football

Nick's association with Reading Football Club began in December 1995 when he joined on loan from Plymouth Argyle, and the move was made permanent a month later. He began his playing days at Arsenal, and subsequently lined up for Bristol Rovers and Swindon Town among others.

He was handed a coaching role by boss Alan Pardew at Madejski Stadium at the conclusion of his playing days, and in October 2000 he took over from John Stephenson to become Director of the our highly-regarded Academy.

In September 2002 he was appointed the Club's first-ever Director of Football, and has continued successfully in that role ever since, overseeing all transfer and contract negotiations.

Nick’s role has been highlighted as an ideal example of a successful Director of Football and has been a key figure in the club’s management team time after time in the club’s journey to the Premier League.
